Twee landhoofden

These two abutments, on either side of the ditch, were built in 1897 - 1898 on behalf of the NV Stoomtramwegmaatschappij'Westfriesland\\\' as part of the steam tram line Wognum - Schagen, which ran from the opening on October 30, 1898 to 1 was in use in February 1930. The bridge between the two abutments has disappeared, but the abutments are still there. The trace of the tramway, bending in the direction of Lutjewinkel and straight in the direction of Barsingerhorn, is still recognizable in the landscape. In 1985, on the initiative of the Historisch Niedorp Foundation, 30 meters of railway line were reconstructed on the southeast side of the abutments. To make that stretch of track accessible to pedestrians, a reversible wooden footbridge has been realized over the abutments. The abutments can always be visited. Information board is available.
