Uitkijkpunt ‘Gat in de dijk’

During the Second World War, part of the dike along the IJsselmeer exploded. As a result, the Wieringermeer was flooded again. The nature reserve'De Wielen\\\' was later created on the site of the hole in the dike, opposite the Dijkgatbos along the Noorderdijkweg in the Wieringermeer. An access path has been made on the old dike, which was breached at the time, with a lookout point at the end. From this point you have a view of the place where the dike breach occurred. The gravel path to the viewpoint is wheelchair friendly. There are several information boards available. This location is part of the IJsselmeer Coast Story Route.
