Wieringer Aak WR173
The Wieringer Barge WR173 ran off the wharf slope in Workum more than a century ago, in 1916. She was used for the first 45 years in fishing on and near the island of Wieringen and then served as a private recreational vessel elsewhere in the country for 15 years. In the end, the Aak was brought back to Wieringen by a group of enthusiastic people, who have committed themselves to preserving this important historical heritage, so specific to the former island of Wieringen.
