Cycling through the Gelderse Poort and Nijmegen

Your route starts at Oortjeshekken. On the way to Millingen aan de Rijn you follow the course of the Waal. You look out over the Millingerwaard, one of the sub-areas of the Gelderse Poort. Here you see marsh, wet grasslands and riparian forest. Part of this beautiful ride you cycle through Germany. You cycle through the Duffel reserve, a nature reserve with small forests, wet grasslands and hedgerows. Then you discover the green hills at Berg en Dal. In Nijmegen you can get off to enjoy the city feeling before you dive back into the polder: the Ooijpolder is your next stop. You cycle over the dike through Tiengeboden. You see several monumental farms, you also look out over the rugged landscape around the Oude Waal.
