Cycling through the Gelderse Poort and through Nijmegen

The first kilometers of this beautiful ride you drive through Germany. You cycle through the Düffel Reserve, a nature reserve with small forests, wet grasslands and hedges. Back in the Netherlands you drive through Millingen aan de Rijn, after which you follow the course of the Waal. On the left you look out over the Millingerwaard, one of the sub-areas of the Gelderse Poort. Here you will see swamps, moist grasslands and riparian forests. You cycle along the dike through Tien Commandments. You will see some monumental farms and you will also look out over the rugged landscape around the Oude Waal. In Nijmegen you can stop at Banketbakkerij Chocolaterie Looijenga to buy something tasty, such as a pastry. Then you cycle to Berg & Dal and descend again to the village of Beek.
