The Onlanden - it sounds a bit ominous, but what a beautiful area this is. Enjoy this rugged low moor in the valley between Drents sand and Groningen clay.

Onlanden
After a good night's sleep at the centrally located Van Der Valk Groningen - Hoogkerk you set off. You put on your walking shoes and explore the Onlanden. These rugged low moor areas stretched out around the Leekstermeer, the largest lake in Drenthe. The Onlanden are located exactly in the valley between the higher sandy soils of Drenthe and Groningen clay soils. Here you can enjoy beautiful views over grasslands, but you also see bushes and wooded banks.

Peizermade
On the way there and back you walk through the hamlet of Peizermade.'Made\\\' means meadow or grassland, so the meadow near Peize. This used to be a very humid area that often flooded. You can still see water there: cross the Shire and follow the Peizerdiep for a long time.
