The cultural history of West Brabant

In the west of Brabant you drive through Bergen op Zoom, Steenbergen and Roosendaal. You will pass plenty of old sights here. The beautiful Brabant forests are also included on this route!

Bergen op Zoom
First you cycle along the Markiezaatsmeer and the Binnenschelde. Take a moment to look out over the water while you loosen up your legs. Then you cycle through Bergen op Zoom, a city with a rich history. You pass through the beautiful Kijk in de Pot city park. You will also see many beautiful old buildings, such as the fourteenth-century Gevangenpoort, the oldest building in the city. Further on you can get off in the woods at Brasserie de Berk for a refreshing stopover.

Steenbergen
You pass Fort De Roovere. This sconce from 1628 was beautifully restored a few years ago. Steenbergen is a former fortified town, around the Market you will find some beautiful monuments, such as the St. Gummarus Church from 1901. You drive through the polders with their creeks and streams to Roosendaal. Here you cycle through the beautifully landscaped, elongated Watermolenbeek Park. Beyond Nispen, even more natural beauty awaits you: the forests of the Wouwse Plantage.
