Description

Sint Philipsland is a nice base for a route through the beautiful surroundings. You cycle through vast polders and along waterways. You will also come across some sights, such as Fort Henricus.

Fort Henry
You start this route at Grand Café with Shmaak. Enjoy a leisurely meal here before you get on the saddle. First you pass De Hoop, a beautiful corn mill from 1724. Then you cycle into the northwest of Brabant. You drive here through a landscape of sea clay polders where you look out over vast meadows. You pass Fort Henricus. This former fortress dates from 1626 and has been partly restored.

In Nieuw-Vossemeer you come through the characteristic old Voorstraat. You can see a beautiful church from 1649. Opposite this building you can visit the AM de Jonghuis. Here you will learn more about the life of the writer of Merijntje Gijzen. You then drive over the island of Tholen on low-traffic roads. What a rest! You drive back to Sint Philipsland past the Rammegors nature reserve.
