Walking through the royal Oranjewoud

When you think of Royal Forests, you might immediately think of Apeldoorn and the surrounding area, but you will also find royal greenery in Friesland: the Oranjewoud. This route takes you through this beautiful forest east of Heerenveen. The starting point of this route is on the outskirts of Heerenveen. From here you immediately walk into the woods that consist of former estates with long avenues, parks with oaks and beeches, small meadows, waters and here and there a country house. At the start of the route you can take a look at Museum Belvédère, a museum for modern art by mainly Frisian artists. You will also pass a Bell Chair and a watchtower that you can climb for a beautiful view of the area. You will eventually end your tour at the parking lot of Museum Belvédère, where you also started your walk.
