A visit to Groningen is never boring. You can't wait to see all those beautiful old buildings. Put on your walking shoes and come and experience the Groningen charm for yourself.
peony park
From the Martini Hotel Groningen you first walk through the Steentilstraat. In this pleasant shopping street you will see a number of seventeenth and eighteenth century buildings. Further on you walk over the Damsterdiep, a filled-in canal. In the Bloemenbuurt you walk through a hidden gem: the Peoenpark. This park was created in the 1950s. Grab a bench here to enjoy the tranquility and special surroundings.
Oosterkerk
Walking along the Oosterhamrikkade, you look out over the rippling water and the boats bobbing on it. At the foot of the bridge is the Wielewaalflat, a national monument from 1957. You pass the Oosterkerk, which is built in a characteristic 1930s style. Then you walk along the Oostersingel. On the right you see beautiful old buildings, on the left is the University Medical Center Groningen. Along the Schuitendiep you walk back into the center of Groningen.
