Cycling route around Gouda

From Deli Lounge you first drive past the Reeuwijkse Plassen. This beautiful nature reserve was created in the eighteenth century by peat extraction. The peat was used, among others, by potteries and beer brewers in Gouda. In the rectangular shape of the lakes you can still see how the former peatlands were parceled out at the time. In Haastrecht you can enjoy the historic atmosphere and cycle along the Hollandse IJssel into the polders. In Moerkapelle you can see the monumental village church that originally dates from 1662. The Bentwoud is a young forest in which space has also been made for flower-rich grasslands and swamps. With over 800 hectares, this is the largest contiguous forest area in the Randstad. In Waddinxveen you pass the beautiful Bridge Church from 1837. You cross the Gouwe via the monumental Waddinxveense Hefbrug from 1936.
