From neighbours
Tuesday August 12. From Geldermalsen, Van Lennep and Van Hogendorp walk to Oranjestad Buren. When they enter the grounds of Huis Buren, they only see the front gate, ramparts and canals. The front gate was demolished in 1883. Van Buren is the pseudonym sometimes used by members of the royal family. In 1986, King Willem-Alexander rode the Eleven Cities Tour as WA van Buren.

Ruin
From the Lekdijk, hikers can see Wijk bij Duurstede in the distance. They cross the river and walk through a deciduous forest" (...) with excellently laid out walking paths\\\". One of those paths ends at the ruins of Duurstede Castle. After drinking a glass of milk (!), they continue walking,"(...) arguing wildly about the beauty or otherwise of ruins in general\\\". It is clear: the journey has actually taken too long for these two very different personalities.

Utrechtse Heuvelrug
The travelers spend the night in Amerongen, just like eight days earlier . Instead of going to Amerongen, the route takes you through the Kromme Rijn region with its meadows and fruit orchards: also a beautiful region. Via Doorn, Van Lennep and Van Hogendorp walk through the estates and heathlands of what is now the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. In Amersfoort they stay with Van de Poll, descendants of the Van Lennep family.

Just after Beusichem you cross the Lek with a ferry that operates all year round.

Nationaal Militair Museum

Visitors will be thrown back at the sight of the imposing National Military Museum building. And then you are not even in! Tanks, planes and, for example, a rocket launcher pose in the large hall with thirteen meters high glass walls. Admire these tough tools from the Dutch army and air force and wander through the entire Arsenal. As if they were still flying through the clouds in a fast flight. The aircraft of the Dutch Air Force, for example, are displayed in the National Military Museum. On the ground are their brothers, the tanks and other vehicles of the Army. The complete Dutch armed forces and its history can be admired here. Take a look at the Leopard 2A6, for example, a battle tank that was the showpiece of the Ministry of Defense for many years. Every piece in the museum has a story. Such as the dinghy with which German soldiers paddle to Rotterdam in May 1940 to enter the battle. The National Military Museum in Soest is also perfect for a company outing, family day, children's party and school trip. In addition, the NMM offers various interesting workshops and group tours.
