Cycling route: 978167
Provided by: Groots Genieten
During this cycling route you will explore the vast polder of North Holland. The starting point of the route is Anna Paulowna, after which you cycle further to Julianadorp and Den Helder.
The bulb region
The area around Anna Paulowna is known for the typical Dutch polder landscape. In the spring and summer months the colors of the bulb region predominate, but you can also enjoy the beautiful view during this route in the other seasons.
Dark Dunes
Via Anna Paulowna you cycle towards the coast to Julianadorp. From there you follow the coastline north and pass the Donkere Duinen, which are located just below Den Helder. It is a planted pine forest. There is a ring-shaped duck pond with bushy banks: a varied forest where you can enjoy cycling.
Tour of Den Helder
Den Helder, home port of the Royal Navy, is located in the north of North Holland. The city is inextricably linked to the sea. Enjoy the picturesque views over the sea. You cycle around Den Helder and descend via the harbor. You continue the route straight through Den Helder towards De Kooy, before returning to Anna Paulowna via the beautiful polder landscape of North Holland. Before you arrive there, first take a tour around the Amstelmeer. This used to be the Amsteldiep, the transition between the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee. But since the arrival of the Amsteldiepdijk, it has become a lake.
