Cottessen Reserve
Southeast of Epen lies a beautiful nature reserve for walking: the Cottessen reserve. The area consists of a half-timbered farm with outbuildings and grasslands, situated on a slope between the Belgian border and the Vijlenerbos. The area around Cottessen is ideal for walking. This part used to be a poor area in Limburg and as a result the old half-timbered houses have been preserved. During the route you will also walk past these. Cottessen has 11 national monuments, all of which are half-timbered farms.

Back in time
Time seems to have stood still here. What a special environment to walk around in! Due to the steep hills, this area was difficult to access for agriculture and as a result, many sunken roads and spring areas have been preserved. The landscape of South Limburg is unique for the Netherlands.
