Cycling around the North Holland North Sea coast
- North Holland
48.90 km (Approximately 02:52 u)
You start this varied cycling day at Brasserie ZoJust in Petten. Then you cycle through the Pettemerduinen to Callantsoog, the seaside resort that was once an island. Here you will pass the Reformed Church from 1580, a picture! You drive through the dunes to Julianadorp, after which you cycle a bit along the Noordhollandsch Kanaal and the bulb fields. The last part of the route takes you through the Zijpe and Hazepolder, an area where the raised moors were reclaimed between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries with a dead-straight plot pattern. Here you pass characteristic farmhouses, polder mills and two old raft bridges. You will also pass through Mennonietenbuurt, a settlement founded by Mennonites in the eighteenth century. At Restaurant de Watersnip you make a pit stop, after which you drive back to Petten.
