Walking through the nature of Groede

Walking through Groede
This short walk of over 6 kilometers starts at Strandpaviljoen Puur in Groede. From here you walk along the Zeeweg through the green surroundings and over the dunes to the west. Groede, like many places in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, is marked by flooding. The inhabitants of Groede are also called porridge eaters, because of the Groese porridge pie. A delicacy - cake filled with yellow cream - that used to be offered by the landowners to the farmers when they came to pay their rent. Groede is a picturesque village with a number of historic houses. These are mainly located around the Markt, where the Grote Kerk is also located.

Black Gatsche Creek
After walking along the Zeedijk for a while, turn around and walk along the Zwarte Gatsche Kreek. This is an inner-dike creek that ends at the Groedse Duintjes. Along the right bank of this creek is a nature reserve and you can walk right through it. What peace around you! You walk north along the Zwarte Gat and along the Zeeweg you walk back to the starting point of this route - which is also the end point: Strandpaviljoen Puur.

Rest at Pure
After this walk it is of course wonderful to settle down at Strandpaviljoen Puur in Groede Bad. You can go here for a snack or drink or for a dinner with a view of the sea. What else do you want?
