Cycling tour along the Zeeland-Flemish coast

The beaches in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen are among the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands. During this cycle route you will pass Cadzand-Bad, but you will also cycle inland to Groede and Oostburg.

Back in time
The route starts in Oostburg. Oostburg is located in the middle of a marine clay landscape, consisting of a patchwork of polders that are largely used as arable areas. You cycle north and cross the Nieuwkerkse Kreek. Then you pass the village of Nieuwvliet, where the Museum De Karrekasse is located. Here you can get acquainted with the Cadzan traditional costume. In an authentic house you experience what life was like here 100 years ago.

The route also passes Cadzand-Bad, a place with a long bathing culture. This arose as early as 1866 with the construction of the Bath House. 

Through the polder

After a nice rest, get back on your bike and follow the coastline of Cadzand-Bad. Then you cycle inland again towards Retranchement. This area is characterized by old polder dikes lined with pollard willows. Then you pass through Cadzand. A still easily recognizable medieval village with the Gothic Maria Church from the early 14th century in the middle. The route ends again at the Oostburg center parking lot. From here you can return home by car after a wonderful bike ride along the coast.
