Walking across the Beegderheide

From Horn you can walk straight into the woods. Ideal if you want to relax for a day in nature. This route takes you across the Beegderheide.

Beegden
Start your walk with a coffee and a tasty lunch at Eetcafé Aan de Kirk, so that you can set off with enough energy. You can take a look at the beautiful buildings around the cafe, such as the church from 1936. You then quickly walk through the rural area between Horn and Beegden. You will travel along an unpaved road past meadows and fields, so you can enjoy the tranquility of rural Limburg.

Kempen sheep
The Beegderheide is a nature reserve rich in relief where you will find heathlands, drifting sand remains and fens. The forests are varied: conifers such as Douglas fir and larch grow there, but also more and more native species such as pedunculate oak and birch. The rare phegea butterfly occurs in large numbers on the Beegderheide, and around the fens you can see dragonflies, among other things. With a bit of luck you will come across the herd of Kempen sheep. You walk the last part of the route through Horn.
