Wonderful strolling along inland dunes and swamps

Exuberant nature
The setting in the Keiheuvel consists of inland dunes, pine forests, open dune grasslands and strips of dry heath. You can spot extremely rare plant and animal species, or sometimes even a glider from Aeroclub Keiheuvel. In De Most, eleven meters lower, you walk through an exuberantly green and swampy valley area. At the upper reaches of the Grote Nete you will find all kinds of special flora: from cinquefoil to brook lamprey, burbot, snipe and porcelain grouse. These plants have returned here through years of effort by nature associations.

Time for a break?
When walking more than 11 kilometers, it is nice to take a break every now and then. This is possible at the beautiful picnic spots that you encounter along the way. Or hang your hammock in one of the most photogenic spots in the Keiheuvel. Hangers are provided, and you can rent the hammock itself at Keiheuvel Recreation Park and De Kruierie leisure center in Balen.

Day recreation Keiheuvel
The start and end point of the route is Dagrecreatie Keiheuvel. Here you will find a playground, an open-air swimming pool, mini golf, a petting zoo and much more fun. Highly recommended if you are going out with your children or grandchildren, for example. You can also rent bicycles here. Handy if you don't feel like bringing your own bicycle.
