Description
From the Limburg village of Schimmert you can take a nice walk through the hills. Enjoy a day of beautiful views and nature!
Kelmonderbos
You climb up the Gijsenberg on low-traffic country roads between the fields and fields. It is wonderful to walk here, ideal to relax for a day. In Kelmond you will pass a road chapel from 1903, which stands in the middle of a junction of two roads. You will also walk through the Kelmonderbos, a hillside forest where large witchwort and sand thorn grow.

You walk a bit through Beek, after which you cross a forest plot via a footpath. In Genhout you can see some characteristic square farms. You then walk through the hills again on an unpaved road. How wonderfully quiet it is here! Finally, you walk through Schimmert, one of the highest church villages in the Netherlands. Here you can take a look at the beautiful Saint Remigius church.
