A tour of the Frisian Wouden and the Bergumermeer

The beauty of the Friese Wouden is known to few. It is therefore wonderfully quiet here to cycle on low-traffic roads. Ideal to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind for a day. From here you make a tour around the Bergumermeer. On the edge of Bergum you will pass the Kruiskerk. This church originally dates back to the thirteenth century. You drive on, through the characteristic small-scale bocage landscape of the Friese Wouden. A backdrop of forest, hedgerows, grasslands and winding streams. You will also see many characteristic side farms and monumental buildings. And of course beautiful ancient churches, such as in Eastermar. You ride back to Hurdegaryp over winding cycle paths.
