Description
Schipluiden is a beautiful town to stroll through at your leisure. This way you can best enjoy the nice old buildings. Then you walk from the village to the Kraaiennest, to further explore Midden-Delfland.
Vlaardingsekade
The route starts at Pavilion't Middelpunt, right on the water of the Vlaardingsevaart. From here you can walk straight into the old village center of Schipluiden. In this nice town you will see some beautiful monumental buildings on the quay. You walk through Schipluiden and then around it, with the green polder on one side and the village on the other. From the Vlaardingsekade you have a beautiful view of a mill. Dutch through and through!
Crow's nest
Further away is the Kraaiennest, a small-scale nature reserve. It consists of two lakes and sunbathing areas, playing fields and beaches. You will see many water and meadow birds there. One of the lakes is a water storage facility. Black-tailed godwits, lapwings and oystercatchers like to recover here in the spring from their migration from the south. Enjoy the terrace again at Paviljoen't Middelpunt. Or will you go out on the water with one of the boats?
