Description
Schipluiden is a beautiful place to take a leisurely stroll through. This way you can best enjoy the nice old buildings. You then walk from the village to the Kraaiennest, to further discover Midden-Delfland.
Vlaardingskade
The route starts at Paviljoen't Middelpunt, right on the water of the Vlaardingsevaart. From here you can walk straight into the old village center of Schipluiden. In this nice town you can see some beautiful monumental buildings on the quay. You walk through Schipluiden and then around it, with the green polder on one side and the village on the other. From the Vlaardingsekade you have a beautiful view of a windmill. Dutch through and through!
Crow's nest
Further on is the Kraaiennest, a small-scale nature reserve. It consists of two lakes and sunbathing areas, playgrounds and beaches. You will see many water and meadow birds. One of the ponds is a water storage facility. Godwits, lapwings and oystercatchers like to come here in the spring after their migration from the south. Enjoy the terrace back at Paviljoen't Middelpunt. Or do you want to go out on the water with one of the boats?
