Description
Schipluiden is a beautiful place to walk through at your leisure. This way you can best enjoy the nice old buildings. Then you walk from the village to the Kraaiennest, to further explore Midden-Delfland.
Vlaardingsekade
The route starts at Paviljoen't Middelpunt, right on the water of the Vlaardingsevaart. From here you can walk straight into the old village centre of Schipluiden. In this lovely town you can see some beautiful monumental buildings on the quay. You walk through Schipluiden and then around it, with the green polder on one side and the village on the other. From the Vlaardingsekade you have a beautiful view of a mill. Dutch through and through!
Crow's nest
Further on lies the Kraaiennest, a small-scale nature reserve. It consists of two ponds and lawns, playing fields and beaches. You will see many water and meadow birds there. One of the ponds is a water storage. Black-tailed godwits, lapwings and oystercatchers like to come here in the spring after their migration from the south. Enjoy the terrace back at Paviljoen't Middelpunt. Or will you go out on the water with one of the boats?
