Description

Experience the tranquility and experience the dynamics of nature during a walk between the old pine trees of Westerschouwen and the robust open dune area in Zeeland. Discover the area after a winter storm, hear the drumming of the woodpecker and look for the short-eared owl and wheatear in the Meeuwenduinen.

Highlights
  • You can look for the short-eared owl and wheatear among the Meeuwenduinen.
  • The notches form a path of sand in the dune area. In this way they cause sand drift.
  • At the transition from forest to dune you will find drifting dunes and a view of the sea.
  • The pines in the forest come from Cosica and Austria and are sometimes almost a hundred years old.
  • Large groups of fallow deer are often found in quiet places in the forest.
The walk is on an unpaved path. Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash. The route is not suitable for disabled people.
