Description
Just above the Brabant village of Casteren you can take a beautiful walk along the Groote Beerze and the beautiful nature around this stream. Wear waterproof shoes, because part of the route you will walk on unpaved paths.
Groote Beerze
For the first few meters you walk loose in Casteren. You see some beautiful old farms, further down the leafy street there is an old-fashioned strip of cobblestones. The Groote Beerze is a stream that originates in Lommel, Belgium. It is wonderful to walk along the banks while looking out over the rippling water.
Beekdal
The Valley of the Groote Beerze is a nature reserve around the stream. Here you walk through a small-scale cultural landscape of hedgerows, forests and meadows with special plants. It is exceptionally quiet here, ideal for a day of relaxing. You walk back to Casteren along a quiet road between fields and fields.
