Vinkeveense Plassen cycle route

You can get off at the Vinkeveense Plassen to enjoy the silence and unspoilt nature. There are some beautiful old towns and vast polder landscapes surrounding this nature reserve.

Mondrian
Along the course of the Gein river you cycle through a landscape of green meadows, cows and pollard willows and elongated plots of land with old farms. You pass the Oostzijdse Mill dating from 1874, one of Mondriaan's beloved painting objects. In Abcoude you will see the Wilhelmina Bridge, a quail (pedestrian bridge) from 1908. You will also see some beautiful monuments here, such as the fifteenth-century Gothic church.

Botshol
Then you cycle over the dike along the meandering rivers Winkel and Waver. On the left you see the Botshol, an unspoilt nature reserve that is considered a quiet area. You cycle through Demmerik, among other places. Thanks to the long and cross-house farms, Demmerik still looks like an old peat village. At Fort Nieuwersluis you can enjoy a refreshing stopover in a historic environment in the tea garden on Sunday. Between Loenersloot and Baambrugge you will pass many monuments, ranging from farms to a castle.
