Tour of Baambrugge and Abcoude

Your walk starts at Café Restaurant De Punt. This route takes you through Baambrugge and Abcoude: two villages full of beautiful old buildings. First you walk into the polder around Baambrugge, where you have beautiful views over the vast grasslands. Just before junction 24 you will pass the spot where Slot Abcoude stood for centuries until 1860. The foundations and (repaired) moat are still visible. In Abcoude you can see, among other things, the Wilhelminabrug, a quail (pedestrian bridge) from 1908. You can also see some beautiful monuments here, such as the fifteenth-century Gothic church. It is wonderful to walk in the countryside. You can see some old farms here. In Baambrugge you see many eighteenth-century monumental buildings, such as on the Dorpsstraat. It seems like you are walking back in time here!
