A day of cycling in the Westland

Around Naaldwijk it is quiet cycling through the Westland. You will find plenty of variety here: forest, dunes, waterways and quiet nature areas. Ideal for a day out.

Vlietlanden
You drive through the forest on the edge of Hoek van Holland, a little later you come across the boulevard. Here you have a beautiful view over the water, the many ships and the port of Rotterdam. Further along the Nieuwe Waterweg you will see some lighthouses on the quay. You drive along the Oranjeplassen, a bird-rich nature reserve. You will also cycle along the Vlietlanden, an unspoilt lake area.

The Westland may enjoy world fame for its innovative greenhouse construction, but you will also find a surprising amount of natural beauty between the greenhouses. For example, you drive past the Kraaiennest and the Wollebrand, two quiet recreational areas that also serve as water storage. You pass through the atmospheric Honselersdijk, further on you drive along the Plas van Alle Winden. This small-scale nature reserve is part of the Poelzone, an ecological connection between the dunes and the Staelduinse Bos. Finally, you drive through the beautiful's-Gravenzande.
