The Altena
You immediately drive into a scenic landscape of winding roads and gently rolling fields. What is immediately noticeable: the peace and quiet! It's wonderful to travel miles here. You drive through the Needse Achterveld, a small-scale nature reserve. Around junction 10 you cycle through Het Altena, a cultural landscape of forests, heathlands, the meandering Hagmolenbeek and historic Twickel farms that you recognize by their black and white shutters.
Mallum Mill
In Haaksbergen you will find a nice historic atmosphere around the Market. You can admire, among other things, the St. Pancratius Church from 1520. You drive a bit through the Buurserzand, a nature reserve with forest, heathlands and old juniper berries. After a shortcut along the German Ammeloer Venn, you cross the Berkel and pass, among other things, the Piepermolen and the Martyrs of Gorcumkerk. Further on are the Mallum Mill from 1748 and a centuries-old characteristic half-timbered barn.
