Get a breath of fresh air in the Land van Heusden & Altena

The Land van Heusden & Altena is a Brabant region that is wedged between several rivers, such as the Waal and Bergsche Maas. You can cycle peacefully through the countryside here, and you will also pass through some interesting villages.

Picturesque Woudrichem
From the starting point you can stretch your legs as you drive along the banks of the water. Get some fresh air and immediately clear your head. Woudrichem was included in the New Dutch Waterline in 1814, so that the medieval fortress was only lifted in 1955. In the historic center you will see fortifications, sixteenth-century houses and the Prison Gate from around 1580.

Dammed Meuse
From Woudrichem you continue along the Afgedamde Maas. You cycle via the dike past the hamlet of Kerkeinde to Werkendam. Then you drive along the Steurgat, where you will see numerous pleasure boats sailing here in the summer. You pass through Nieuwendijk and Almkerk, along a leafy path you drive along the Wijde Alm, a widening of the Alm river. Finally, you cycle past some old farms on the Afgedamde Maas.
