Description
Put on your waterproof hiking boots for a tour of the Schuitwater nature reserve. A unique nature reserve near Lottum in Limburg.
Maas channels
Here you will find a unique mosaic of moist alder swamp forests, swamp vegetation and dry coniferous forests and heaths. You also walk past meadows and fields. What you immediately notice here: the silence! At the water you can grab a bench to enjoy the peace and natural beauty.
Beaver
From the eighteenth century, peat was dredged in the Schuitwater. This fuel was transported with flat barges, the area takes its name from these vehicles. In the Schuitwater you will find many special plants, mushrooms, insects and birds. There is plenty to enjoy in every season. Beavers were also released here in 2003. With a bit of luck you can spot the animal or find traces of its behavior.
