You get on your bike in the woods east of Halsteren. It's nice to loosen up your legs between the trees before you drive through Halsteren. You then cross the Scheldt-Rhine Canal, the waterway that forms the border between Zeeland and North Brabant. You drive through Tholen, this former fortified town has a historic atmosphere thanks to the many monumental buildings. Further on you pass the Scherpenissepolder, a marshy nature reserve where many coastal and meadow birds live. You drive through the De Pluimpot nature reserve to Sint Maartensdijk, which enjoys a protected cityscape. You can see why at the Markt: there are many historic buildings here, such as the former town hall from 1628.

A little outside Sint-Maartensdijk and Scherpenisse you will find De Gorikshoekse Hoeve. This Hoeve consists of two campsites and a restaurant where you can end the day at the end of your cycling or walking tour. Restaurant SMAEK is located a stone's throw from the Oosterschelde National Park and within walking distance of the coast. Take a nice trip and then relax at this restaurant.
