The beautiful countryside of Haaksbergen

This route takes you from Hotel De Kastanjefabriek through the Twente countryside around Haaksbergen. First you cycle to Landgoed Lankheet. The history of this 500 hectare estate goes back to 1188! Here you can still see an old farm landscape with ash trees, hedgerows and coppices. Characteristic are the extensive forests with scattered heathlands. Further on, take a break at the Oostendorpermolen from 1548, it is an idyllic spot. The Buurserzand nature reserve is a mosaic of heathlands with hundred-year-old junipers, forests and orchid meadows. Just across the border you cycle along the Ammeloer Venn in Germany, a nature reserve with wet and overgrown grasslands. At Rekken you cross the Berkel river, just outside Eibergen you take a seat on a terrace at Hof van Eckberge.
