In the heart of Twente
From train station Borne you leave to the east. Borne has a cozy and compact shopping center and a versatile outdoor area. Borne is located in the heart of Twente, making the most beautiful places easy to reach. Get to know the surroundings of Borne and Hengelo during this walking route of almost 20 kilometers. After many kilometers in the countryside, you enter Hengelo via the west. You walk zigzagging through the city, along beautiful waters and ponds, such as Waterpark Genseler and the Tuindorpbad.

Beautiful garden village
During the walking route you will also pass Tuindorp't Lansink. This is one of the most beautiful garden villages in the Netherlands. The largest part of Tuindorp't Lansink is a nationally protected village view. Admire this beautiful part of Hengelo, take a tour along the pond and finish with coffee or tea at Tuindorphotel't Lansink. You walk through the bustling center of Hengelo towards the end point of this walking route: Hengelo train station. From here you can easily catch one of the Blauwnet trains to go back home.

Bustling Hengelo
Hengelo is a relatively young city that only started to grow in the nineteenth century. Recognizable points for the center of Hengelo are the towers of the Sint-Lambertus Basilica and the town hall. There is always plenty to do in Hengelo.
