Train cycling: from Hengelo to Enschede

Carmelite Monastery
This cycle route starts at the train station of Hengelo . Via the centre you cycle to the Carmelite monastery. Not so long ago, monks lived in the monastery who taught at the school. Now pupils of the De Grundel lyceum are taught in the monastery. Via the east of Hengelo you leave the city towards the green. Along the Lonnekermeer you follow the route towards Twente airbase. You can make a detour to Lonneker to have a cup of coffee at Café Sprakel in the Dorpsstraat.

Kennispark train station
You will cycle south through Zuidkamp in a zigzag. Then you will cycle west again, along the water, to Kennispark train station. You may still have time to discover the energy-neutral cycle and pedestrian path that connects Kennispark train station to the University of Twente. On this path you will be surprised by high-tech elements that are innovative and experimental. From there it is only a short distance to the end of the route: Enschede train station.

End point of the route: Enschede

Enschede station is located on the edge of the city centre. From here you can enjoy the nature reserve between Hengelo, Enschede and Oldenzaal by bike or on foot. So get on the train and travel with one of the Blauwnet trains to one of the stations to make a beautiful bike ride from there.
