The Bonte Poort is the bridge over the border canal Laak. The name is derived from a farm of the same name, which used to stand here on a sand hill.

The Stoomgemaal Arkemheen, previously known as Stoomgemaal Hertog Reijnout, is a striking appearance in the Arkemheen polder near Nijkerk. As one of the oldest pumping stations in the Netherlands, the water pumps to a higher area, in this case the Zuiderzee. These lock works regulate the water to and from the IJsselmeer.

Lovink pumping station was put into operation in October 1957 to pump out the Eastern Flevopolder. This was achieved, together with the pumping stations Wortman (Lelystad) and Colijn (Ketelhaven), within nine months. The Lovink pumping station is named after Dr. HJ Lovink (1866-1938). He was chairman of the State Commission, which dealt with the agricultural and economic side of the reclamation. Afterwards he was chairman of the Advisory Committee for the trial polder near Andijk.

Hanseatic city Kampen has many medieval attractions, including its 3 city gates. The Broederpoort dates from 1456. Another gate is called the Koornmarktspoort, probably from the 15th century and finally there is the Cellebroederspoort from 1465.

Hasselt is a small Hanseatic city with a rich history. In the historic city center of Hasselt you will find more than 70 national monuments and a canal belt. So there is more than enough to see here and we have not even included all the beautiful hidden places. The centuries-old town north of Zwolle is best explored on foot or from a boat. Stroll over the drawbridges and along the canal or view the city from the water and look for traces of the city's glorious past. Hasselt was mentioned as a Hanseatic city from 1367. The Hanseatic League was a trade alliance between different cities. The city flourished as a result of trade and Hasselt experienced two centuries of prosperity. During this time, much trade took place via the Zwarte Water, a river that was connected to the Vecht and the Zuiderzee. The merchandise consisted of sandstone from Bentheim, wood, barrels with beer and roof tiles that were manufactured in Hasselt itself.

This monument is one of the most impressive war memorials in the Netherlands. The monument consists of a ninety meter long rail that curls up at the end.

This mill was built in 1906 on the outskirts of Beilen. The mill has been restored several times and therefore it is still possible to grind grain with it.

This octagonal tower mill was built in 1806 as an oil and hulling mill. In 1820 a grinder was installed in the mill and from then on flour was also made in the mill. In 1976 the mill was bought by the municipality of Ommen. The mill was then restored, but the interior was almost completely demolished by then. In the late 1980s, flats were built close to the mill, which meant that the mill could catch a lot less wind. Nevertheless, the mill was regularly operated by volunteer millers during that period. It was dismantled in 2013 due to a radical recovery of the mill. Parts of the mill were replaced and the English wheel mechanism was also renewed. In 2014, the mill was ready to turn again, but shortly after the recovery, the almost new outer rod hit the hull while turning. As a result, the mill came to a standstill again. The damaged outer rod had to be repaired and re-plugged. In the meantime, the mill is ready to turn again.

On Landgoed Het Laer is deer camp Ommen, consisting of more than 50 hectares of forest, an ice cellar, a coach house and a peacock house. Young and old are amazed here. There are deer, goats, goats, peacocks and pigeons. Many water birds also reside in the small lake.

De Wippe is a flour mill that was built in Hellendoorn in 1821. Until 1937, the mill was used to grind corn using wind power. Then the interior of the Wippe was removed. The mill is named after the so-called 'Wippenbelt' on which the windmill is built. Between 1998 and 2001, the mill, which was dilapidated at the time, was thoroughly renovated. The mill still runs regularly with the help of a volunteer miller. Nowadays a general practice is located in the mill and De Wippe previously housed a public observatory. Take a look at this windmill and immerse yourself in a piece of traditional Dutch architecture.

In this museum you will find an impressive collection of tools, objects and machines from old bakeries and ice cream factories. You can go here if you want to learn more about how ice creams used to be made and how bakers worked.

In the outdoor center Sallandse Heuvelrug you will find all the necessary information about the nature, geology and history of this unique area. Not only Staatsbosbeheer is located in this area, but also the Institute for Nature Education and Sustainability, the Center for Nature and Environmental Education, and the Hellendoorn Observatory. Are you less agile, but would you still like to enjoy the beautiful nature in this park? Then you've come to the right place at the outdoor center. This is because 'de Heideslak' departs from here, a cart that transports you through the nature reserve. Enthusiastic volunteers lead these excursions. They tell fun stories and point out the most beautiful things in nature. The outdoor center is fully accessible for wheelchair users. Furthermore, fun activities are regularly organized in the outdoor center for young and old. Think of a full moon walk including a lecture about the moon or a 'safari through the forest' with a guide.

Torenfort Everdingen was built between 1842 and 1847 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. Together with Fort Honswijk on the other side of the Lek, the Fort hermetically sealed the high-lying passage (access) of the Lek dykes and the flood plains.

Because the stork was in danger of disappearing from the Netherlands, this site was purchased by the Bird Protection in 1969 for the establishment of a stork village. After 30 years of breeding, the goal was achieved and there were again more than 1,000 storks in the Netherlands. The cages disappeared and the stork village was transformed into a regional center.
