Visiting Urk remains a fun experience. If only because of the special history of this former Zuiderzee island. In the Noordoostpolder it is beautiful to cycle along the IJsselmeer and extensive meadows. You also pass through the Kuinderbos. Enjoy a delicious meal at Restaurant De Kaap and get on your bike full of energy. During the first kilometers you will spend some time on the dike along the IJsselmeer. Get a breath of fresh air while enjoying the sweeping views of the tamed Zuiderzee from the cycle path. The Kuinderbos is the largest and oldest forest in the Noordoostpolder. It is a pleasure to drive through this beautiful and varied nature reserve. You drive back to Urk via the Emmeler Bos and Emmeloord. Thanks to the many beautiful old buildings, the atmosphere of yesteryear still lives on on this former island.

Restaurant De Kaap is a household name at home and abroad. Thousands of guests moor here every year. And that is not without reason! The restaurant distinguishes itself by quality and service. For example, the fish is supplied fresh daily from the Urk fish auction. While the fireplace crackles cozily, you can enjoy the antique ship ornaments, ship models and the collection of centuries-old costumes. When the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace. You will also find an ice cream shop (only open during summer days) and Bed & Breakfast here.

Zeedijk - 11 Kortestreek
Lemmer had several ramps on which ships could be built. On the Zeedijk in Lemmer you found the slope of the De Boer brothers. The first Lemsteraken, a traditional Frisian sailing ship, were built here at the end of the 19th century. The most famous lemsteraak 'De Groene Draeck' was designed here, but not built. Maintenance of the ships of the Lemster fishing fleet took place on the slopes of the Kortestreek.
