Landgoed Vilsteren

7734 PD Ommen

The Vilsteren estate is no less than 1,035 hectares with forests, agricultural areas and cultural-historical elements. The estate is privately owned, but it is freely accessible. You can visit De Vilsterse Molen, an octagonal flour mill, among other things. You can also admire the country house on the estate or enter the estate center. At the estate center you can learn more about the estate through exhibits about the present and the past. The center is located in an old farm. For centuries Vilsteren was an esdorp full of farms. From the end of the 18th the lake got an estate character, because a large area came into the hands of one family. The successive owners gradually transform the estate into today's estate. The current House Vilsteren was built in 1908. Since 1995 the house has been inhabited again by one of the co-owners of the estate.

De Fundatie/Kasteel Het Nijenhuis

't Nijenhuis
8131RD Olst-Wijhe

Het Nijenhuis Castle is one of the best preserved manors in Overijssel. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful landscape between the villages of Heino and Wijhe. The history of the castle dates back to the late Middle Ages. The first mention dates from 1382. The castle was inhabited by different noble families until it was taken over by the provincial government of Overijssel. Then the castle was restored and part of the castle was converted into a museum, with the collection of collector Dirk Hannema as the starting point. In 2003 the castle was rebuilt and renovated again. The house, which was previously only open to visitors by appointment, has been completely refurbished and has been fully accessible to the public since 2004. Part of Hannema's extensive collection can be viewed in the castle. Around the castle is a sculpture garden with about 80 sculptures. Stroll through the beautiful ornamental garden and enjoy the most beautiful images in the meantime. An impressive combination of nature and culture.

Landgoed De Colckhof

Colckhof
8055PH Raalte

Landhuis de Colckhof is not accessible, but walking on the roads and paths of the estate is allowed. Experience the romance of the English gardens with playful water features, winding paths and beautiful vistas. In the background you can hear birds chirping and woodpeckers drumming on trees. Nearly sixty bird species breed at the Colckhof, so bird watchers can indulge themselves here. The estate dates back to 1300 and the accompanying country house was built in 1840. The country house is privately owned. The estate was laid out in the English landscape style in the first half of the nineteenth century. The landscape consists of patches of grassland, forest, fields and a vegetable garden. In the spring, lilies of the valley, wild hyacinths, daffodils and periwinkle trees bloom here, and in the autumn the forest has beautiful autumn colors. The estate has recently become even more beautiful, because it has just had a makeover. Ponds, canals and ditches have been cleaned, the groundwater level has been raised and the water quality has been restored.
