You can take a nice walk from Haghorst in Brabant. You walk through the fields and through the Baest Estate. A route to enjoy nature and silence.

Wilhelmina Canal
You will quickly get into your rhythm along the Wilhelmina Canal. It is nice to walk here on the car-free, leafy dike. You see some old farms, and on the right boats regularly pass over the water. You can recognize the former mining history by the straight roads that connect perpendicular to the dike.

Sacred Oak
In the middle of the forest you will find the Chapel of the Sacred Oak, a particularly atmospheric spot. In 1406, two shepherds are said to have found a statue of Mary in the De Beerze stream and placed it in an oak tree. Then you walk a bit across the private Baest Estate. A beautiful decor, in which you mainly see birches and oaks. Just below Haghorst you pass through Het Stuk, a small coniferous forest.

The cornerstone of society in ancient and modern times are the churches and more often the small chapels that you can observe all over the smallest hamlet. Small monuments with a rich history.
