Vuren is a nice village on the Waal. Ideal for exploring on foot. In the outlying area you will pass Fort Vuren.
Wheel of Fire
You set off from the cozy Fort Vuren. From the Waaldijk you have a beautiful view of the fort and the canal. On the other side you look out over the rippling water of the Waal. You walk through the floodplains over an unpaved pass. You will pass the Wheel of Fire. This puddle once formed after a dike breach. You can enjoy the silence and small-scale nature around the lake.
Tielerwaard
It is nice to walk in Vuren. From the village you walk on leafy roads between the vast fields and meadows. Every now and then you pass a beautiful farm. You will not encounter many cars here in the Tielerwaard. After a short cut through the village of Dalem you end up at the Waaldijk again. Fort Vuren dates from 1844 and is part of the New Dutch Waterline. Now you can have a nice drink and eat here.
