The Bengel

Your cycle route starts at Hotel De Bengel, which is located on the historic market square of Eersel. This ancient village is one of the Acht Zalheden, beautiful villages in the vast forests, stream valleys and heaths of the Brabantse Kempen. You soon cycle to the Hapertse Heide, which is grazed by blond beef cows of the Bazadaise breed from the Gironde. You cycle straight through nature to De Grote en Kleine Cirkel near Reusel. In the 1930s, the street plan of the Champs Elysees and the Place de la Concorde was applied to a piece of the heath. The circles were nice landmarks for pilots in World War II. Get off at listening point L103: Thanks to the underground. Allied paratroopers and crew members were hiding in this place.
