West Friesland is an ideal region for a cycling tour. You can get a breath of fresh air and relax. You will also find nice places that are rich in cultural history.
The Ven
At Fruitkwekerij't Keetje you can enjoy a fresh fruit juice or coffee with homemade apple pie before you get on your bike. First you drive through the De Weelen nature reserve. In this characteristic old sailing country, the mining pattern from the Middle Ages has been preserved. You will see ditches that run from north to south. Further on you cycle through the young Streekbos near Enkhuizen. Lighthouse De Ven dates from 1700. Grab a bench here for a beautiful view.
Medemblik
Further on you will pass the Hat Museum"Put'm On\\\", a nice stop off! From the cycle path behind the dike you have beautiful views over the IJsselmeer. Medemblik received city rights from Count Floris V in 1289. You can still see this rich history in the many beautiful facades, but also in Radboud Castle. Two residential wings of this thirteenth-century castle can still be admired. In Hauwert you will see the beautiful fifteenth-century Nicholas Church.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
