Description
On to the Dwingelderveld
Diever in Drenthe is the starting point of this route. From here you set course through the Drenthe landscape to Dwingelderveld National Park. You will pass 3 sheepfolds in succession, where you can stop to take a look at the sheep when they are not grazing in the nearby nature reserves. You then cycle on to the small town of Lheebroek and Dwingeloo. From Dwingeloo it is only a short bike ride to the point where you also started in Diever.
End in Denver
On your way to the end point you will pass the Schultehuis. This is a monumental building that used to function as an official residence for the Schulte van Diever, a kind of representative of the central authority. You can also visit the Oermuseum. It is especially nice for children to walk around here.
Drenthe Bicycle 4 Days
During the Drentse Fiets4Daagse, all kinds of activities are organized on this route. For example, Camping de Noordster is the first stamp post and there is a bouncy castle, games and face painting. In Ruinen there is a nice fair and the miller keeps the mill running when the weather is good. Various activities are organized for this in Spier at van der Valk and at camping Meistershof. When you return to Diever you can take a picture with baby mammoth.
