Description
Hemmen is a charming village in the Betuwe. Put on your walking shoes and come and discover the charm of this town and the countryside.
Castle garden Hemmen
You walk through Hemmen. You can see a beautiful farm from 1800, a beautiful church from the nineteenth century and a monumental presbytery. Further on you can visit the Kasteeltuin Hemmen. This classically decorated and walled garden dates from 1832. The accompanying country house was destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945.
Rhine dike
In the countryside you walk on a leafy and car-free road along the Linge. You look out over the rippling water and reed beds. Further on you walk through the polder. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal to switch back for a while. From the Rijndijk you look out over the floodplains and you occasionally see the river. Besides meadows you also see fruit orchards. In the spring this area gets a beautiful color because of the blossom.
