In the Flemish Ardennes it is wonderfully quiet walking. This route takes you through the Muziekbos, a special nature reserve just outside the town of Ronse.
Music mountain
The route starts at the parking lot at an inn. From here you immediately walk into the beech forests that lie on the flank of the 150 meter high Muziekberg. In the spring many bluebells bloom here. At the highest point is the Geuzentoren, a mysterious round tower from 1864 that is made of iron sandstone. A poet who stood on this tower in 1888 proclaimed the hilly region the Flemish Ardennes.
Fortune mountain
Further on you walk over the Fortune Mountain. The forests give way to rolling meadows that offer you a beautiful view. There are some old farms along the path. What a charming setting! Via a small climb you walk back into the Muziekbos. By the way, the'Muz\\\' in the word Muziekbos refers to the Celtic word for'swamp\\\'. Still, the refreshing silence in this forest will be music to your ears.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
