Hiking in Ronse, Flanders, Belgium
Hiking route 774380
Provided by: Tourist Info
In the Flemish Ardennes it is wonderfully quiet walking. This route takes you through the Muziekbos, a special nature reserve just outside the town of Ronse.
music mountain
The route starts at the parking lot at an inn. From here you immediately walk into the beech forests that lie on the side of the 150 meter high Muziekberg. Many bluebells bloom here in the spring. At the highest point is the Geuzentoren, a mysterious round tower from 1864, built of ironstone. A poet who stood on this tower in 1888 proclaimed the hilly region the Flemish Ardennes.
mountain of fortune
Further on you walk over the Fortuinberg. The forests give way to rolling meadows that offer you a beautiful view. Along the path are some old farms. What a charming environment! Via a small climb you walk back into the Muziekbos. The'Muz\\\' in the word Muziekbos refers to the Celtic word for'swamp\\\'. Still, the refreshing silence in this forest will sound like music to your ears.
Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
