Lommel is a cozy old town with a special history. You will discover beautiful nature reserves all around and enjoy cycling along the water of the canal.

Stevensbergen
From Tourism Lommel you can quickly cycle out of the city. You are right in the middle of nature here. You drive into the Netherlands to drive along the Stevensbergen, a gently sloping nature reserve where heathland and coniferous trees alternate. Then you cycle along the rippling water of the Bocholt-Herentals canal. This canal connects the Zuid-Willemsvaart in Bocholt with the Albert Canal in Herentals. It is one of the seven Kempen canals between the Maas and Scheldt.

Brabant accent
This route is in the shape of a figure eight. You can start the morning at the intersection in cozy Lommel with a cup of coffee and join us for a welcome lunch. Lommel is a friendly town with more than 1000 years of history. From the beginning of the thirteenth century, Lommel was part of the Meierij van's-Hertogenbosch. It therefore still has a Brabant character, you can hear this in the East Brabant accent.

Tourism Lommel is the starting point for all your adventures in Lommel. The Glass House, and the Flemish Center for Contemporary Glass Art with a glass shop and exhibitions, is the icon of the city with its 30 meter high glass cone. From here you cycle past the largest German military cemetery from the Second World War. This cemetery is 16 hectares in size with almost 40,000 graves. There are also fallen from World War I. The city further developed Kristalpark III: in this super-modern equipped industrial park you will come across a whole series of imposing windmills.

The most famous windmill type in the Netherlands. Windmills were used not only to produce flour from cereals, but also to reclaim polder areas. Natural energy. The most famous windmills can be found in Kinderdijk, really set up as a polder model. A must see!
