Tour De Hoep and Heemskerk

The region around Heemskerk, Beverwijk, and Castricum is brimming with variety. You'll ride through wooded dunes, expansive polders, and villages packed with sights. You'll pass Fort Veldhuis, where you can visit the Air War Museum. You'll cross the North Sea Canal, after which you'll drive through the Spaarnwoude recreation area with its beautiful forests and water features. Velsen-Zuid is the original center of the village of Velsen, which was split in two in the nineteenth century by the construction of the North Sea Canal. The picturesque area around the twelfth-century Engelmundus Church is a protected townscape. From Wijk aan Zee, you'll enter the North Holland Dune Reserve, which you can learn more about at the De Hoep visitor center.
