Two old Hanseatic cities lie along the IJssel like pearls on the water: Deventer and Zutphen. In the countryside you cycle through a mosaic of meadows, fields and forests.
Superb Zutphen
Cycling over the dike you can enjoy the beautiful view, while getting a breath of fresh air. You pass the Bolwerksmolen, a sawmill from 1863. With a ferry you cross the IJssel, after which you drive into the Ravenswaarden. This unique nature reserve is one of the best preserved Dutch winding values. Then the old center of Zutphen awaits you. You will find plenty of monuments and nice museums here.
Historic Denver
In Warnsveld you can stop at Museum De Opkamer for a look back in time. Via Gorssel you drive to the second Hanseatic city on your route: Deventer. There is plenty to do in the historic city center. At the tree-lined Brink you can see De Waag, a beautiful museum from 1531. At the Grote Kerkhof you can see the old town hall and the Lebuïnus Church. What a wonderful atmosphere!
