Cycling around Retie

The traditional rural tranquility still prevails in the Belgian Kempen. Jump on the saddle and experience it yourself in the region around the town of Retie.

Seven Nits
The route starts in Hodonk, a small hamlet just outside Retie. You immediately cycle into the countryside with its succession of fields, grasslands and forests. You will soon pass through the Goorbossen, where you drive through a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees. Nature can take its course here, what a beautiful untouched forest! Cycling on car-free roads, you cross the Looiendse Nete three times further on, one of the Zeven Neten (streams) that lie around Retie.

It is wonderful to make kilometers in the quiet countryside. After a while you drive into the Nete valley and you pass the Prinsenpark, a green oasis of forests, meadows and tufts of heath. Stop at the bridge over the Witte Nete to enjoy the picturesque view, the watermill from 1765 and a terrace. The baroque chapel that you see on the right of the road in the village of Werbeek dates from 1665!
