Want to stretch your legs? Put on your walking shoes for a trip along the Markermeer and through the polders.
Marker lake
You can walk straight onto the Zuiderdijk from Europarcs Resort Markermeer. You walk here along the banks of the Markermeer. Get a breath of fresh air, while you hear the water gently sloshing. Bring binoculars if you like to spot birds or boats. Just like Flevoland and the Noordoostpolder, this lake should have turned into land, but that plan fell through. Natuurmonumenten and Rijkswaterstaat are currently constructing a few natural islands in the lake: the Marker Wadden.
The neighbourhood
While walking you will see some beautiful characteristic farmhouses, such as in the hamlet of Tersluis. Waving reeds and blades of grass grow along the ditches. In the polder, not only the ditches, but also the roads are perfectly straight. Such an endless landscape is ideal for clearing your head and focusing on the rhythm of your steps. Walking across the leafy De Buurt you will see some beautiful buildings.
