Walking through Maaseik

The route starts at Tourism Maaseik. Here you will find plenty of information about this beautiful town and the beautiful surroundings. The route starts at the old market square, one of the most beautiful in Belgium. You will see many old buildings here, such as the beautiful eighteenth-century town hall. Some buildings still have a characteristic Maasland Renaissance facade. Also on the Markt is a statue of the Van Eyck brothers, the fifteenth-century painters who were born in Maaseik. & Nbsp;

City wall
In Maaseik the centuries-old street pattern from the time of the founding of the city has been preserved. Just like on the Markt, time seems to have stood still in the Hepperstraat, what an atmosphere! There is also plenty of cultural history to experience in the pleasant shopping street. You will pass the Baroque Kruisheren church from 1767. On the corner of Prinsenhoflaan, walk up the stairs to the chapel: the raised path is part of the former city wall.
